The essay aims at proving a historical excursus on the different audiovisual products that, in the last century, have been inspired by the poetry of Dante, from the silent movies of the beginning of the Twentieth century to the latest productions of Italian and English television.In this complex and articulated picture it is remarkable to note that, while the cinema shows a tendency to normalization, trying to fit the structure of the Commedia into his genres, television version of different periods are quite original and seem to use Dante's poetry as a chance to try new linguistic experiments
