Contributo per itáque (con una nota su adhúc)

Servius (Comm. in Donatum IV 427, 13-19 K.) knows of two different "itaque", the former accented on the first syllable, the latter on the second one. In the Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages the pronunciation was itáque, as shown by the Easter Communion Antiphon, where itáque translates ὥστε (1 Cor. 5, 7-8). Similar argumentations show that in Mediaeval the accent was adhúc and not ádhuc.

Servio (Comm. in Donatum IV 427, 13-19 K.) distingue due itaque, per i quali c'è differenza di accento ítaque/itáque, distinzione che ritorna in grammatici antichi e medievali, ma è difficilmente individuabile dai testi degli autori antichi. Nella tarda antichità e nell'alto Medioevo la pronuncia pare essere itáque, almeno dal testo musicale di un passo del communio pasquale del Graduale Romano, passo che deriva da 1 Cor. 5, 7-8, dove itaque della Vetus Latina e della Vulgata traduce ὥστε del greco ; per la stessa via viene confermata l'accentazione adhúc nel Medioevo
