Una rivista ottocentista: "L'Esame" letterario tra prosa d'arte e romanzo europeo.

"L'Esame" (1922-1925) offered itself to the prose authors of the "Ronda" as a welcome lifeboat, where Cardarelli and associates climbed aboard when their journal was about to sink. Their collaboration with the monthly journal of Enrico Somarè immediately generated a literary climate that also involved the nearby Milanese publisher of the "Convegno" and the "Bottega di Poesia". Linked to a 19th-century narrative canon, "L'Esame" filters the contemporary European novel through that light, hosting with great timeliness booth Thomas Mann and Marcel Proust. The explosion of the 'Svevo case' in Italy can be traced to the celebrated 'omaggio' by Montale.
