This paper discusses the methodological aspects that characterize the research. Particular attention is given to the sampling design and its realization, because they are the most decisive aspects in defining the scientific level of data collected. Moreover, the criteria adopted to build the indices, used to merge the data into one-dimensional scales, are illustrated.
