The essay compares the absolute truth of logics and metaphysics and the way this is declined in history, where truth is not related to theory, but to action and practice. Truth must become reality in order to generate an ethical, political and social behaviour. The relationship between absolute reality and historical contingence is conceived in several ways throughout the XX century, from Nietzsche up to postmodernism.

Il saggio confronta la verità assoluta della logica e della metafisica con le forme in cui si declina in ambito storico. Qui la verità non ha a che fare con il sapere teoretico, ma con l'agire e il fare, in cui il vero deve essere realizzato determinando un comportamento etico, politico e sociale. La relazione tra verità assoluta e contingenza storica viene diversamente formulata nel 900, a partire dal prospettivismo di Nietzsche fino all'esaltazione del particolare come accade nel postmoderno.
