Aldo Carpi

The study dedicated to Aldo Carpi, in the systematic catalog of the Museo Diocesano in the prestigious series of Musei e Gallerie di Milano, regard to the commitment of the Brera maestro in carrying out a series of 29 windows for the chapel of the Sisters of the Cenacle in via Gabba in Milan in the years 1957-58. It comes with a canvas entitled Pacem in Terris in 1963 that has, in a provocative way, the same title of the Encyclical by Pope Giovanni XXIII issued in the same year. The most original contribution of the research undertaken are: the choice of the subjects in the series in relation to the religious tasks of the Sisters of the Cenacle, the scope of this work in the corpus of works by the artist, the evaluation on the techniques of glass faced, the interpretative analysis of the language in Carpi, and the documents found.

Lo studio dedicato ad Aldo Carpi, all’interno del catalogo sistematico del Museo Diocesano nella prestigiosa collana de Musei e Gallerie di Milano, attiene all’impegno del maestro di Brera nella realizzazione di un ciclo di 29 vetrate per la Cappella delle suore del Cenacolo di via Gabba a Milano negli anno 1957-58. Ad esso si aggiunge una tela intitolata Pacem in terris del 1963 che porta provocatoriamente lo stesso titolo dell’enciclica emanata da Giovanni XXIII nello stesso anno. La scelta dei soggetti all’interno del ciclo in relazione ai compiti religiosi delle suore del Cenacolo, la portata dell’opera nel corpus delle opere dell’artista, la valutazione sulle tecniche della vetrata affrontate, come l’analisi degli spunti interpretativi propri del linguaggio di Carpi sono, insieme alla documentazione ritrovata, il contributo più originale della ricerca intrapresa.
