The catalog essay aims to investigate the contribution of art to the idea of family both at the disciplinary level, touching on the concept of representation of the theme, and dealing with a particular interpretation aimed to identify the characteristics that define the family proprium. The research conducted in this sense verifies the width both in the temporal dimension: the works cover a lapse of story that goes from the XIV century to present day; and in the transverse dimension: iconological reading explores how great artists have captured the gestures of generating , grow, take care and treasure peculiar to the transmission of life. This line intersects another one that explores the same theme in the works from the collections of Institutions, Associations, Confraternity arose in Lombardy in order to give a family for those who have difficulty in the society getting the deep sense of a continuous Good that becomes cultural tradition.
