A famous hadith states that "God created Adam in his image". This article examines the different interpretations of this tradition and its variants, finally singling out the concept of "vicariate" as the most adequate foundation to human dignity in Islam. As a practical application of this principle, the article discusses the subject of work as a possible common field for Christians and Muslims, also in the wake of the 2011 revolutions.

Abstract
A famous hadith states that "God created Adam in his image". This article examines the different interpretations of this tradition and its variants, finally singling out the concept of "vicariate" as the most adequate foundation to human dignity in Islam. As a practical application of this principle, the article discusses the subject of work as a possible common field for Christians and Muslims, also in the wake of the 2011 revolutions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
