The Critique of the power of Judgment carries out an analysis of the a priori principles of the aesthetic judgement (based on the «free game» our faculties of knowledge, for which a sensual object produced by imagination shows itself «as if» it were constructed in order to satisfy the needs of the understanding) and of the «teleological» judgement, which concerns the purpose of our nature. As opposed to the «pure concepts of understanding» or categories, the purpose has no impact on the way the object is constituted for us, so it does not impact nature; but nature can be conceived by us only «as if» it was designed for given purposes: otherwise, we would not be able to fully conceive its unity.
