The essay summarizes some of the main themes present in the writings of some anglophone authors of Virtue Ethics (or anyway in the texts of authors that published in English, contributing to the debate), that focused on virtues and character. For example it concerns: the primacy of the end (and not the emphasis on duty) and the unity of human life; the importance of love and friendship as components of flourishing and their relationship with virtue; the inadequacy of the moral rules to do the good; the ethical essential role of emotions; the moral importance of the community.
