While believing that the relationship with parental figures is primary, there is a family bond that is part of a child's life from the moment of birth, which precedes and welcomes him: the relationship with grandparents. In a relational context of increasing family fragmentation, the figure of the grandfather can be considered a decisive presence, which can make a significant contribution to grandchildren’s process of identity construction, providing stability, continuity and security. The bond between grandparent and grandchild is a type of report that has a specificity in the expressive, relational and affective aspects. The pedagogical knowledge and the educational research can provide an important contribution to unravel the relational wealth, educational skills, sensitivity and experience that the older generation can make available to the younger generations.
