The chapter aims to deepen the existing relationship between the Italian fashion system and artistic craft productions. Starting from a socio-historical research including interviews to artistic craft professionals working within the fashion system, it shows that in the global economic systems, artistic crafts play a role as resources for economic development and enhancement of local heritage. In the context of global transformations, artistic craft activities - which are not “de-localizable” or which can be delocalized only delegitimizing their value - tend to assume an increasingly important specific weight in the production, including industrial production, of that Italian excellence which is often associated with Made in Italy.

Abstract
The chapter aims to deepen the existing relationship between the Italian fashion system and artistic craft productions. Starting from a socio-historical research including interviews to artistic craft professionals working within the fashion system, it shows that in the global economic systems, artistic crafts play a role as resources for economic development and enhancement of local heritage. In the context of global transformations, artistic craft activities - which are not “de-localizable” or which can be delocalized only delegitimizing their value - tend to assume an increasingly important specific weight in the production, including industrial production, of that Italian excellence which is often associated with Made in Italy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
