This essay deals with the early years of book printing in Mantua. After a rather productive period (1472-1481), the few printing firms ceased their activity, probably due to severe problems in distributing the books and in competing efficaciously with the bigger companies (such as the ‘Compagnia di Venezia’). Neveretheless the first decade remains quite interesting under many respects, even because some foreign printers and traders came to Mantua and became Mantuan citizens, spending there the rest of their lives. New documents are published; one of them, dated 1476, provide new evidences wich allow to reconsider the whole printing and commercializing process of Problemata Aristotelis (comm. Petrus de Abano), Mantua, Paul Butzbach [for Stefano Illari], 1475 (IGI 846-A).

Abstract
Petrus de Abano), Mantua, Paul Butzbach [for Stefano Illari], 1475 (IGI 846-A).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
