The new forms of civil society need to bring out the experiences of participation, in response to increasingly common forms of individualism. The contribution starts with an analysis of these trends and outlines the commitment to build a true educational community. In this perspective, the author analyzes the conditions that lead to the formation of civic sense: sense of belonging, shared responsibility and commitment to participation. In particular, the paper presents some educational approaches that allow to recognize the potential of family in collaboration with school. Building cooperation between the various adults who take care of children, through an effective dialogue, is a basic condition to form a sense of citizenship. This goal helps people grow, and even institutions, generating skills and thoughts that give life to the educational community.
