In research projects Riflessione pedagogica e sostenibilità, I tried to study the importance of the term environment in education: the environment is the origin of human civilization, it surrounds and embodies us, urging us to be responsible. I’ve studied sustainability from a critical point of view, analyzing it as a key-concept not only for the economical perspective. Sustainable education plays a key-role in reflecting on education in present pluralistic societies. Caring for the environment and education are connected and involve families, schools, communities. Education deals with formal contexts, public communication, political mediation to achieve common good. Education plays a key-role to discover the interdependences that mark human future on our planet, to understand the categories of change and risk, to plan responsibly in a relational and fair perspective.

Abstract
