Abstract

Cod. I 98 inf., as shown by Pertusi, was the Homer housed in the Visconti-Sforza Library, but it does not fit with Petrarch's description of the book he received from the Byzantine diplomat Sygeros. Contrary to Pertusi's assumptions, the codex was still complete about 1540. On the other hand, the only Greek codex of the Visconti-Sforza was indeed Petrarch's Plato (Par. gr. 1807). The affair looks baffling.
