The essay deals with a relevant yet still under used source for history of schooling, videlicet the textbooks for teacher training. The essay shows the didactic novelties and the pedagogical care in the text-books for elementary teachers imposed in the Habsburgic Empire between XVIIIth and XIXth centuries and therefore in Lombardy, from the Austrian ones of Felbiger and Peitl, to their Italian translation by Soave and Cherubini.
Il saggio esamina una fonte rilevante per la storia della scuola ma ancora poco usata: i manuali per la formazione dei maestri. Il saggio illustra le innovazioni didattiche e le attenzioni pedagogiche dei manuali in uso nell'Impero asburgico tra Sette e Ottocento e quindi in Lombardia, da quelli austriaci del Felbiger a quelli di Peitl, tradotti da Soave e da Cherubini.
