The volume explores the relationship between media and schools. On the one side it tries to estalish how the postwar Italian audiovisual imaginary has represented schools, by analyzing over 100 Italian and international movies and tv shows. On the other it explores how concrete teachers and students relate to media materials and technolgies through empirical fieldwork in 40 schools in Milan and Trento. The methodologies applies include field observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and administrative personnell (n=120) as well as quantiative surveys about media consumption targetet at students (n=672).
