Taking as a starting point the interdisciplinary approach developed by T. Herbst, this paper aims to bridge the gap between translation theory and the practice of multimedia translation. A number of concepts such as equivalence, faithfulness, acceptability, adequacy and interdisciplinarity are analysed in order to trace their evolution and highlight how the progressive widening of the theoretical perspective makes it possible to study complex processes such as the textual manipulation undergone by multimedia products in translation.

Abstract
Taking as a starting point the interdisciplinary approach developed by T. Herbst, this paper aims to bridge the gap between translation theory and the practice of multimedia translation. A number of concepts such as equivalence, faithfulness, acceptability, adequacy and interdisciplinarity are analysed in order to trace their evolution and highlight how the progressive widening of the theoretical perspective makes it possible to study complex processes such as the textual manipulation undergone by multimedia products in translation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
