The chapter presents the results of an international research on the social exclusion of children in out of family care. It analyses the functioning of the Romanian child protection system as it results from semi-structured interviews with professionals and it evokes the stories of children who reached major age in istitutions and of their families, as emerged from focus groups and life story interviews.
