Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the foundations of management theory and practice with a speed and comprehensiveness that few technological transitions in the history of the discipline have matched. Yet the scholarly response to this transformation remains fragmented. Technical contributions from computer science and engineering accumulate faster than management theorists can assimilate them. Empirical studies document adoption patterns and performance outcomes without providing the theoretical frameworks required to explain them. Normative prescriptions for executives proliferate in practitioner outlets while the academic literature struggles to connect algorithmic capability to the established constructs of strategy, organization, and competitive advantage. This volume is a response to that fragmentation.
