In Europe, and especially among a good number of cinema critics, there is a big suspicion against the "happy ending", that is considered a Hollywood trick, related only to marketing reasons. The essay explores some inner reasons why at least in some cases the happy end is the result of a "poetic justice" that reveals much of what a story, in itself, is to the audience.
