The “TeensView” study, conducted by the C.A.R.E. Center at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Piacenza campus), aimed to investigate the lived experiences of young people currently residing in the Piacenza area and the internal and external resources they feel they can rely on. The survey involved over 700 individuals aged 12 to 19 living in the city and province of Piacenza, using a questionnaire focused on their feelings, perceptions, and expectations. Crucially, it focused on their resources, based on the conviction that—beyond signs of vulnerability and distress—young people possess potential waiting to be recognized and nurtured by educators. Consequently, the study’s questions focused less on sources of uncertainty and vulnerability and more on indicators of well-being, resources, the values guiding young people, the search for meaning as a driver of growth, and the quality of their relational contexts. Specifically, the aim was to understand their self-perception in the present and their expectations for the future, as well as their views on the individual resources (e.g., sense of purpose, values) and relational resources (family and friendships) they draw upon to cope with daily challenges and critical events during their growth. While participants generally expressed a positive perception of their quality of life (with some variations based on gender and age group), the most significant findings emerged regarding personal and relational resources—areas where strategic investment is essential to provide effective educational support.
