It would seem that the Book of Tobit, fragments of which have been found in Aramaic documents from Qumran, might have had a Semitic original. Tobit depends on the Story of Ahiqar, possibly even on the version from Elephantine. The contribution also examines the four references to Ahiqar in Tobit (1:21-22; 2:10; 11:18, 14:10).
