The memory of the Lombard past becomes, between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, one of the tools for the construction of the national identity of the kingdom of Italy. Artists, men of letters, politicians and men of culture work in concert with the same unity of patriotic intentions. The result of this renewed sensitivity for the past is also reflected in the recovery of famous medieval monuments and their restoration. This is the case of the Sagra di San Michele in Val di Susa, of the female monastery of San Salvatore-Santa Giulia in Brescia or of the Treasury of the basilica of San Giovanni in Monza, with Iron Crown, highlighted by the contribution. Scholars, superintendents, architects and professionals worked for their restoration and the neo-medieval theoretical guidelines adopted are today fundamental for understanding their work and re-reading the interventions, distinguishing them from the original bequests.

Abstract
Scholars, superintendents, architects and professionals worked for their restoration and the neo-medieval theoretical guidelines adopted are today fundamental for understanding their work and re-reading the interventions, distinguishing them from the original bequests.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
