Building on a broad contextual foundation, this article seeks to sketch a picture of the work Super Cantica. Particular attention is also given to Honorius’s exegetical method and, in connection with this, to his sources, in order to shed light on both the originality of his theology and his connections to other works and authors. This reveals intellectual connections with other German authors of that time and allows us to identify a shared theological-philosophical language. Among these authors are Rupert of Deutz, Hildegard of Bingen, Konrad of Hirsau, Anselm of Havelberg, and, in particular, Hugo of Saint Victor, who was born in Saxony.
