This article traces the genesis and development of the partnership between Italian and Belgian institutions, which enabled the restoration of the Altarpiece of the Adoration of the Magi between 2022 and 2023. It also revisits the historical, critical, and conservation milestones associated with the wooden retable, which has remained in situ since its creation in the former Milanese basilica of San Nazaro in Brolo. The work was commissioned by the merchant Protasio Bonsignori da Busto for the altar he founded and dedicated to the Magi, erected in the early sixteenth century within the oratory of Santa Caterina
