In this paper I intend to reflect on the theoretical relationship between knowledge and competencies by trying to integrate the instances of both teaching models. In this regard, I argue that the teaching of civic education recently instituted in the Italian school system represents an opportunity for integration by virtue of its appeal to transdisciplinarty. Therefore, I investigate the fundamental epistemological characteristics of transdisciplinary knowledge, highlighting the role of philosophy - understood as an essentially human cognitive and dialogical activity – in creating communities. From this philosophical mediation between knowledge and competencies, a renewed possibility to rethink philosophy as unitary knowledge will ultimately stand out.

Abstract
In this paper I intend to reflect on the theoretical relationship between knowledge and competencies by trying to integrate the instances of both teaching models. In this regard, I argue that the teaching of civic education recently instituted in the Italian school system represents an opportunity for integration by virtue of its appeal to transdisciplinarty. Therefore, I investigate the fundamental epistemological characteristics of transdisciplinary knowledge, highlighting the role of philosophy - understood as an essentially human cognitive and dialogical activity – in creating communities. From this philosophical mediation between knowledge and competencies, a renewed possibility to rethink philosophy as unitary knowledge will ultimately stand out.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
