This chapter examines religious route tourism from the perspective of private law and regional legislation, with particular attention to the legal framework governing religious itineraries in Italy. After introducing the main civil law issues connected with the creation, management and promotion of such routes, the analysis focuses on the national legislation applicable to religious tourism, cultural heritage, associations, Third Sector entities and local development policies. The chapter then explores the role of the Regions, which have progressively become key actors in regulating and enhancing religious routes through specific laws, planning instruments and support measures. By highlighting the interaction between national principles and regional competences, the contribution aims to show how religious routes can be understood not only as spiritual and cultural experiences, but also as legally relevant projects requiring coordinated governance, institutional cooperation and sustainable territorial planning.
