This handbook is one of the outcomes of the research project ITINEREL – Religious and Cultural Routes as Itineraries towards European Common Values, Sustainable Tourism and the Protection of Cultural and Religious Heritage for Future Generations. Conceived as a practical vademecum, it provides guidance and operational tools for dioceses, parishes, pastoral workers, local authorities, associations and Third Sector organisations involved in the conception, establishment, planning and development of religious and cultural routes. At the same time, it is intended to support those who may wish to undertake similar initiatives in the future, fostering sustainable tourism, the enhancement of cultural and religious heritage, and the promotion of shared European values.
