Rethinking art history also means taking into account the role that women have played within the ‘art world’, and analysing how their contribution to artistic endeavour has manifested itself not only, obviously, in their works, but also through conferences or exhibitions in galleries, public institutions and alternative venues. From historical reconstructions, it emerges that even today it is possible to trace “forgotten” or “underestimated” paths in art due to a tacitly male-centred interpretation. This is demonstrated by recent international exhibitions on abstraction, which have helped to rescue forgotten figures from oblivion, but above all, have sparked new reflections and cross-cutting interpretations of this artistic movement.

Abstract
Rethinking art history also means taking into account the role that women have played within the ‘art world’, and analysing how their contribution to artistic endeavour has manifested itself not only, obviously, in their works, but also through conferences or exhibitions in galleries, public institutions and alternative venues. From historical reconstructions, it emerges that even today it is possible to trace “forgotten” or “underestimated” paths in art due to a tacitly male-centred interpretation. This is demonstrated by recent international exhibitions on abstraction, which have helped to rescue forgotten figures from oblivion, but above all, have sparked new reflections and cross-cutting interpretations of this artistic movement.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
