A systematical study of all the occurrences of “arithmos” and all the arithmetical examples in the pseudo-Platonic “Epinomis” allows us to see in the dialogue a part of the debate on the “mathematization” of metaphysics, which took place between Aristotle, Plato and members of the Old Academy. The Author of the “Epinomis” seems to share Speusipp’s and Aristotl’es conception of “monadikos arithmos” involving in the mathematization of metaphysics astronomy much more than arithmetics.

Abstract
A systematical study of all the occurrences of “arithmos” and all the arithmetical examples in the pseudo-Platonic “Epinomis” allows us to see in the dialogue a part of the debate on the “mathematization” of metaphysics, which took place between Aristotle, Plato and members of the Old Academy. The Author of the “Epinomis” seems to share Speusipp’s and Aristotl’es conception of “monadikos arithmos” involving in the mathematization of metaphysics astronomy much more than arithmetics.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
