The recent re-examination of archaeological finds in Milan in Via S. Valeria has recognised several funerary structures existing at the end of the 4th century in the context of the cemetery ad martyres. One of these mausoleums consists of a semi-hypogeum structure on which an upper storey must have been built. This two-level structure does not seem to find any comparisons in the early Christian period in northern Italy, while some possible parallels can be found elsewhere, in particular around Trier.

Abstract
The recent re-examination of archaeological finds in Milan in Via S. Valeria has recognised several funerary structures existing at the end of the 4th century in the context of the cemetery ad martyres. One of these mausoleums consists of a semi-hypogeum structure on which an upper storey must have been built. This two-level structure does not seem to find any comparisons in the early Christian period in northern Italy, while some possible parallels can be found elsewhere, in particular around Trier.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
