The contribution reaffirms the uniqueness of Baudelaire’s petits poèmes en prose by examining the first Italian translation of the collection, by Gerolamo Ragusa Moleti. Applying Berman’s model, it is shown how the translator’s horizon is the socio-cultural one of the Italian province, far from Baudelaire’s “vie moderne”. Vittoria Pica’s ambiguities regarding the definition of the genre will confirm how the improper reception of the prose poem casts new light on the relationship between France and Italy.

Abstract
The contribution reaffirms the uniqueness of Baudelaire’s petits poèmes en prose by examining the first Italian translation of the collection, by Gerolamo Ragusa Moleti. Applying Berman’s model, it is shown how the translator’s horizon is the socio-cultural one of the Italian province, far from Baudelaire’s “vie moderne”. Vittoria Pica’s ambiguities regarding the definition of the genre will confirm how the improper reception of the prose poem casts new light on the relationship between France and Italy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
