This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive literature review on the effects of tDCS in the cognitive domain across various animal models of neurological conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, as well as pain, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and Parkinson’s disease. Relevant studies were identified through a systematic PubMed search utilizing a broad range of terms and related truncations, such as brain stimulation, noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS), transcranial direct current stimulation, tDCS, neurodegenerative diseases or disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, cognitive impairment, cognitive decline, memory, vascular dementia, Parkinson’s, pain, stroke, ischemia, traumatic brain injury, animals, animal models, mice, rats, monkeys, rabbit, rodent, cat, dog, and ferret. Articles were included if they met the following criteria: (i) published original data; (ii) applied direct current transcranially; (iii) included a shamstimulated control group; and (iv) reported results from cognitive assessments.

Abstract
Articles were included if they met the following criteria: (i) published original data; (ii) applied direct current transcranially; (iii) included a shamstimulated control group; and (iv) reported results from cognitive assessments.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
