This short essay first examines the evolution of the presence of economic disciplines in the regulatory framework of Political Science programs from the 1968 reform to the so-called 3+2 reform. It also offers some reflections on the effects that regulatory changes may have had on the overall identity of Political Science degree programs. It then focuses on the distribution of the presence of economic disciplines in the curricula of the L-36 degree programs in all Italian universities where they were activated for the 2024-2025 academic year. In the face of regulatory developments that have not supported and do not support the characterization of the degree programs at the national level, the tradition of Political Science programs has shown and continues to show signs of strong resilience. The economic component maintains a prominent position, as an essential contribution to the added value of the L-36 degree program, recognized for its marked multidisciplinarity.
