The integration of digital tools into research and teaching practices has transformed German as a Foreign Language (GFL) instruction, particularly in the domain of pronunciation training. This paper examines the challenges and opportunities brought about by the ‘digital turn’ in GFL teaching, 30 years after the ‘prosodic turn’ redefined GFL pronunciation training in Italy. By addressing the phonetic and phonological dynamics of language contact between Italian (L1) and German (L2, L3, etc.), and in alignment with the principles of contrastive analysis and language acquisition theory, this study explores key aspects of digitally enhanced GFL pronunciation training. It focuses on the acquisition of German phonetics by adult Italian learners within the framework of contrastive prosody and digital technologies.

Abstract
