This article examines religious and cultural routes as integrated territorial ecosystems that promote sustainable local development. Through the PRIN ITINEREL project and the Emilia-Romagna “Ecosister” network, the study analyzes how multi-level governance, collaboration between civil and ecclesial institutions, and the involvement of local communities enhance the value of religious heritage. The case of the Cammino di San Colombano illustrates both the potential and challenges of managing slow and sustainable tourism in marginal areas. The creation of the Ecclesial Cultural Park “Terre di Passo” exemplifies an innovative governance model for coordinated cultural and pastoral valorization. Overall, the research highlights the need for holistic, participatory, and sustainability-oriented strategies to strengthen religious routes as generators of cultural, social, and economic value.

Abstract
Overall, the research highlights the need for holistic, participatory, and sustainability-oriented strategies to strengthen religious routes as generators of cultural, social, and economic value.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
