Adoption and training. The perspective of adoptive parents

In the last few years, the nature of adoption has transformed significantly. The challenges that face adoptive families require proper preparation which starts from the pre-adoption period. The aim of this submission is to find out integrated training courses for prospective adopters and lifelong learning paths for adoptive parents, in order to ensure the well-being of the adoptees, of the entire family unit, and of the local community. A qualitative research design, which made use of the narrative method and involved six adopters in semi-structured interviews, will be presented from an educational perspective. Giving voice to life stories provides useful elements for a theoretical analysis and for gaining knowledge to offer in training courses and educational support for adoptive parenting.
