Within the contemporary paradigm of knowledge networks and their essential role in understanding complex interactions between phenomena and agents, the modern concept of Landscape emerges as a synthesis of evolving mea- nings. Over the decades, the idea of “Paesaggio” has shifted from an aesthetic and emotional perception of the natural environment to a more advanced interpretation as a product of diachronic interrelations and reciprocal influen- ces. This evolution has positioned landscape studies at the core of analytical and research approaches, highlighting the interactions between humans and their environment. Archaeology has increasingly focused on these themes, adopting theoretical and technical advancements from related disciplines. The discipline has recognized the role of humans as key agents in shaping the environment, thereby redefining archaeological research within a broader ecological and systemic framework. The archaeological approach offers a de- eper understanding of landscapes as interconnected systems shaped by both natural and human factors. Despite these advancements, the integration of contemporary archaeological insights into broader landscape studies remains limited. This paper argues for a more integrated and interdisciplinary approach in which archaeology contributes to landscape studies by uncovering invisible historical layers and interpreting them within a framework of systemic inter- connections. It highlights the need for collaboration between archaeology and other disciplines to fully understand the historical and environmental contexts of landscapes. By incorporating archaeological data into territorial planning and environmental conservation, archaeology can play a crucial role in reconstructing historical processes, informing sustainable development, and fostering a collective awareness of landscapes as dynamic and intercon- nected entities.
