This article aims to study the formal and structural organization of Mexican exvotos according to semiotic theory. It seeks to appreciate the role of the sick, particularly women, in practices surrounding the body, physical ailments, and healing processes, as well as family dynamics. The relationship between the artwork and external reality will be emphasized in terms of critical and analytical elaboration.
