Il "Partito bresciano": Chiesa, società e politica nella Brescia del secondo Novecento

The essay examines the role of the Church in Brescia during the post-war reconstruction and, subsequently, throughout the 1950s and 1960s, highlighting the driving force of the ecclesiastical hierarchy embodied by Bishop Giacinto Tredici and Giovanni Battista Montini. The Church emerges as a key actor in mediating social conflicts, addressing employment crises, and fostering a culture of dialogue among politics, the economy, and local communities, thereby contributing to the definition of a distinct “Brescian model” of governance, oriented toward Europe and modernity.
