The text attempts to define the object ‘narrative medicine’. To this end, it studies and comments on the definitions of Charon, Marinelli, Guyatt, Cairns, Churchill, Greenhalg and Hurwitz, Calabrese and Corea. He synthesises these definitions and reflects on the epistemological origins of the term. He starts from Cartesian rationalism, which he proposes as the founder of the soul/body dichotomy in modernity, and examines how Derrida disproves, in postmodernism, this dialectic. He proposes, as a contemporary vision of the conception of the patient in medicine, the texts of Groddeck and Van der Kolk.

Abstract
The text attempts to define the object ‘narrative medicine’. To this end, it studies and comments on the definitions of Charon, Marinelli, Guyatt, Cairns, Churchill, Greenhalg and Hurwitz, Calabrese and Corea. He synthesises these definitions and reflects on the epistemological origins of the term. He starts from Cartesian rationalism, which he proposes as the founder of the soul/body dichotomy in modernity, and examines how Derrida disproves, in postmodernism, this dialectic. He proposes, as a contemporary vision of the conception of the patient in medicine, the texts of Groddeck and Van der Kolk.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
