I coniugi Webb e la democrazia industriale

The article deals with the main books of Sidney and Beatrice Webb (The History of Trade Unionism and Industrial Democracy), by highlighting their contribution to the studies of Industrial Relations and to Labour Law of the 20th Century. This contribution is twofold: from a methodological point of view, the careful consideration of the reality of labour relations and the trade union movement, while giving up their purely abstract study; from a substantial point of view, the proposal of a Labour Code, which sets down the minimum standards for the protection of employees.

Il saggio rilegge i classici di Sidney and Beatrice Webb (The History of Trade Unionism e Industrial Democracy), mettendo in evidenza il contributo agli studi di relazioni industriali e al Diritto del lavoro del Novecento. Questo è duplice: sotto il profilo metodologico, la meticolosa attenzione alla realtà delle relazioni lavorative e del movimento sindacale, con l'abbandono del suo studio puramente astratto; sotto il profilo contenutistico, la proposta di un Codice del lavoro, che fissi gli standard minimi di tutela per i lavoratori dipendenti.
