Time performs a situating and identifying function; it tells of man and his multiple relations to things and events, to himself and other men, to life and its becoming. The category of time shapes identity recognition, ensuring the continuity of references and the possibility of projects. Between synchronic and diachronic movements, each person situates himself in time by placing himself in a history.
