The essay aims to examine the works that Daniel Buren created in the Tuscan landscape, both into natural spaces and in the urban environment. It pays attention to the relationships with specific architectural and environmental meanings. For this reason, the concept of "genius loci", as treated by Norberg-Schulz in a well-known book from the seventies, can be a valid element of compariosn in relation to the proposal of an immersion in the characteristics of the place, as occurs in Buren' interventions and in his definition of work "in situ".
