This book analyses the contemporary history of Iran during the 20th Century, starting from the rise of the Pahlavi dinasty to its fall with the popular revolution of 1978-79 and the creation of the Islamic Republic. Great attention has been paid to Khomeini's political discourse, the creation of the so-called 'dual state' and the crisis of legitimacy of the repubblic following the defeat of the reformist attempt and with the frauds at the presidential elections of 2009.It tries to offer a comprehensive approach to a comp0lex and multifarious reality, which is very often misunderstood in the West.
