South Africa's national elections of 29 May marked two turning points in the country's political history. For the first time since 1994, the African National Congress will not enjoy an absolute majority in the National Assembly. On the other hand, no other party will have a parliamentary majority and therefore, for the first time since 1929, South Africa will be led by a coalition government.
