Tra tecnica ed esistenza: i sentimenti come risorsa professionale

There is a widespread belief among operators of care that if they turn a deaf ear to their emotions they manage to be more professional and efficient. In particular, the excessive use of technical specialisms has led to a concealment of feelings, making the caring professions lose part of their humanity. In fact, emotions and feelings are the root of what unites healthY and sick people, and the use of this technique doesn’t protect from the emotional implications, but it expands the sphere of action thus widening that of decision-making and responsibility.

Tra gli operatori della cura è diffusa la convinzione di doversi rendere sordi alle proprie emozioni per essere più professionali ed efficienti. In particolare l’eccessivo ricorso alla tecnica e agli specialismi ha prodotto un occultamento del senso, rendendo le professioni di cura più povere di umanità. In realtà emozioni e sentimenti rappresentano la radice di ciò che accomuna sani e malati, e il ricorso alla tecnica non mette al riparo dalle implicazioni emotive, ma, ampliando la sfera di azione, ne allarga anche quella di decisione e di responsabilità.
