This chapter provides an overview of the presence of foreign citizens in the province of Brescia in 2023. Official data from ISTAT are used to describe the demographic characteristics of this population, in comparison with the native one and over time. Data from the Police Headquarters and the Prefecture of Brescia are then employed to address the issues of the regularity and irregularity of immigrants, with a specific focus on applications for residence permits and citizenship acquisitions. The conditions of foreigners in the local labor market are then illustrated, through Istat, Sistal-Regione Lombardia and Infocamere data on employment and foreign entrepreneurship, followed by an analysis of foreign workers’ remittances (data from Bank of Italy). The chapter concludes with a section devoted to the issue of health inequalities between the foreign and native population. In particular, data collected by the ATS of Brescia within the Percorso Nascita are illustrated, highlighting the disparity between Italian and foreign mothers in prenatal and postnatal care.
